ECONOMY OF COLOMBIA
Agriculture is very important to Colombia's economy. Coffee, natural gas, iron ore, coal, textiles, chemicals, nickel, gold, and copper are all a huge part of the economy. Major exports include coffee, flowers, and bananas. Mining in Colombia is also very special because their mines have the largest deposit of emeralds in the world. Colombians take part in a large informal economy and are recognized in having a great, functioning economy. There have been downfalls that have threatened the economy such as violence, unfavorable drug trade, and a deteriorating infrastructure. Although these struggles affect the economy, Colombia continues to strive for economic excellence and success.
